Gloria Vanderbilt (born February 20, 1924 – died June 17, 2019) was an American Artist, Author, Actress, Fashion Designer, Heiress, and Socialite from Manhattan, New York. She is famous for being a member of the Vanderbilt family of New York.
Furthermore, she is also known as Anderson Cooper’s Mother. His son is an American News Anchor, TV Host, Journalist, and Media Personality.
The 95-year-old was the last daughter and heir to the Vanderbilt railroad fortune. She started her career as a theatre actress. Moreover, Gloria made appearances in shows like Playhouse 90, Studio One in Hollywood, The Dick Powell Show, etc.
In fact, she also worked as a model and appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. During the 1970s, Vanderbilt began her own fashion venture and launched a line of scarves called Glentex.
In addition, she launched a line of designer jeans with her signature after proposing by Mohan Murjani’s Murjani Corporation. After the success, the designer also started a line of shoes, leather goods, blouses, sheets, liqueurs, and accessories.
Gloria also opened her first art exhibition “Dream Boxes” In 2001. As an author, she penned two books on art and home decor, four volumes of memoirs and three novels. Recently, on June 17, 2019, Gloria Vanderbilt died at the age of 95.
The main cause of her death was stomach cancer. She diagnosed with the disease earlier this month. The news about her sudden demise was released by her youngest son Anderson Cooper (American journalist, television personality, and author).

The legendary fashion designer, Gloria Vanderbilt was born on the 20th of February 1924 (age 95 years old) in Manhattan, New York, United States. Her father “Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt” was an American equestrian and gambler.
Gloria’s mother “Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt” was the second wife of Reginald. Earlier, he wedded his first spouse “Cathleen Neilson” from 1903 to 1920. They also had a daughter together. Therefore, Gloria had a half-sister named Cathleen Vanderbilt.
As of education, the author attended Greenvale School and Wheeler School. Later, she graduated from The Art Students League of New York. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from there.

The 95-year-old Vanderbilt married four times in her life. She first tied the knot with husband Pat DiCicco (agent and producer) in 1941. However, their marriage ended pretty soon.
According to the designer, Pat was very abusive in their relationship. Later, she filed for divorce and accused him of domestic violence in 1945. Furthermore, her second wedding was with her ex-spouse “Leopold Stokowski” who was one of the leading English conductors of the early and mid-20th century.
They stayed together from April 1945 to October 1955. In fact, they also shared two sons named Christopher Stokowski and Leopold Stanislaus Stokowski. Then, Gloria married her third partner “Sidney Lumet” (director) on August 28, 1956.
However, due to some problems, they divorced in August 1963. Finally, the heiress wedded her fourth spouse “Wyatt Cooper” (American author, screenwriter, and actor). They also have two kids, two boys named Carter Cooper and Anderson Cooper.
The couple stayed together until Wyatt’s death at the age of 50 during open heart surgery on January 5, 1978. Later, she dated her boyfriend “Gordon Parks” (photographer and filmmaker) for many years until his passing in 2006.
